If there is anyone who can respect a grassroots grind, it's Chance The Rapper. The successful indie MC and Chigagoan of The Year, recently gave props to Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity as they marched through Chicago's West Chatham neighborhood in support of the peace movement in Chi-Raq. Taking to Twitter, The Rapper noted, "Right now the Alphas are marching through my neighborhood of West Chatham on 79th demanding peace. I stand with you. This is mans work."

He later referenced the death of 9-year-old Tyshawn Lee who was killed earlier in the month after being shot in the face and back on a side street on Chicago's South Side. "I haven't spoken out on Tyshawn's death. But if you're a parent you know I'm deeply hurt and appalled," he typed. Followed by, "We not goin for this shit no more. The men in the family are standing up and against anymore violence on our children watch what we do next."

Chance is currently on a five-day break leading into the finale of his Family Matters Tour which has been on the road since early October. He will close out the jaunt in Cali. The last two tour dates are Nov. 23 in San Diego, Calif. and Nov. 24 in Los Angeles.

On Dec. 12, Chance will make his debut on Saturday Night Live as the show's musical guest. This will mark the first time an independent artist has performed on the show, but not the last, according to CTR.
