While Chance The Rapper has seemingly cracked the codes of a disintegrating music industry, he hasn't quite done the same with his health. The young Chicago-born artist missed his last two Coachella performances due to illness; on at least one occasion, he was hospitalized for what appeared to be the cumulative effects of a daunting tour schedule. That pattern continues today (Nov. 10), as Chance has been forced to cancel his scheduled show in Charlotte, NC. This comes one day after he did the same for a planned performance in Raleigh. His management team took over his Twitter account to spread the news, and to assure fans that refunds would be issued and new dates would be announced.

By the spring of 2013, Chance was already a darling of critics, bloggers and rap fans in the greater Chicago area. His mixtape from the previous year, #10Day--so named for the suspension from school that incited its recording--was wildly popular, and had earned him press in outlets as prestigious as Forbes. But that April's Acid Rap galvanized his supporters, making him one of the most sought-after talents in the industry. Chance eschewed major label overtures, staying independent and continuing to work with The Social Experiment, his collective of musicians and creative directors.
