Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson recently became the epicenter of slander after putting out a ill-advised rap ad for his upcoming campaign that is aimed at Black voters. The $150,000 ad features a few bars from rapper Aspiring Mogul mixed between Carson quotes and has mind-bending lyrics like "Vote and support Ben Carson for our next president and be awesome." Yeah, it's that bad. And Carson knows it.

TMZ caught up with the aspiring Commander In Chief, and he admitted that the ad might have been a little...lame. During a recent stop in Miami, Carson referred to the radio spot as that "rap thing," and said he "probably would have taken a little different approach."

It appears the damage has already been done. The “Freedom” ad debuted on Friday (Nov. 6) and is supposed to air for the next two weeks in Miami, Atlanta, Houston, Detroit, Birmingham, Alabama, Jackson, Mississippi, Memphis, Tennessee and Little Rock, Arkansas. Their intentions were good, we guess. “Reaching [young Black voters] on a level they appreciated and follow and see if we can attract their consciousness about the election,” campaign spokesman Doug Watts told ABC News of the decision to go with a hip-hop themed ad. “They need to get involved and express their voice through their vote.”

The ad has gotten the attention of the Black community, but not the type that BC was hoping for. Back to the drawing board.
