Watch Kanye West Try Out for ‘American Idol’

There's no denying Kanye West's status as an American icon. And if you ever forget he will make sure the fact is made clear. But just for shets and giggles, the world renowned entertainer recently decided to try out for the long running show American Idol. You know, just to see if he still has what it takes.

'Ye showed up to a tryout in San Francisco and was allowed to perform in front of the judges. West performed his hit "Gold Digger," which was a good move strategically seeing as he name-drops Idol judge Jennifer Lopez on the track. After a spirited rendition of the song, where Yeezy was all smiles, West was voted in and awarded with his golden ticket to L.A. It had to be one of the biggest moments of the rap star's career. Sarcasm folks. Kanye seemed to enjoy every minute of his visit.

You know, if that music thing doesn't work there's always selling over-priced threads to fall back on. And speaking of votes, West still seems very serious about this whole running for president in 2020 thing. Though, if you let current President of the United States, Barack Obama tell it, there is no way West could win. Do you really think they would let a black guy from Chicago with a strange name be Commander In Chief of the free world? No way. Right?
