Nicki and The Weeknd are competing against eight other artists for Artist of the Year. The Young Money rapper is also nominated for Favorite Rap/Hip-Hop Artist against Drake and Fetty Wap, as well as Favorite Rap Album for The Pinkprint. Drake's If You're Reading This, It's Too Late and J. Cole's 2014 Forest Hills Drive are also in the running for Favorite Rap Album.

As for The Weeknd, he's also listed as a nominee for Song of the Year for "Can't Feel My Face," and is going up against Wiz Khalifa's "See You Again" featuring Charlie Puth. The talented singer scored a nod for New Artist of the Year alongside Fetty, Favorite Male Soul/R&B Artist alongside Chris Brown and Trey Songz, and Favorite R&B Album for Beauty Behind the Madness. He is also competing against Breezy's X and D'Angelo and The Vanguard's Black Messiah LP for Favorite R&B Album. Wiz's "See You Again" also scored a second nomination for Collaboration of the Year.
