For the fourth year in a row N.W.A was nominated to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's Class of 2016. Other artists that were nominated were The Cars, Chic, Chicago, Cheap Trick, Deep Purple, Janet Jackson, The J.B.’s, Chaka Khan, Los Lobos, Steve Miller,
Nine Inch Nails, The Smiths, The Spinners and Yes. The artists with the top votes will be announced in December and inducted next April at a ceremony in New York. The ceremony will be broadcast by HBO. Last year N.W.A was nominated alongside Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, the Smiths, Lou Reed, Sting, the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Kraftwerk, Chic, Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, the Marvelettes, the Spinners, Stevie Ray Vaughan, War and Bill Withers but failed to be among the top vote-getters.

This is the fourth consecutive year that the public will have the opportunity to vote alongside artists, historians and music industry insiders for the musicians they believe deserve to be inducted. Voting starts from now until Dec. 9th. You can vote on RollingStone.com. The requirements for artists or bands to be eligible for this year's ballot is your first single or album must be released in 1990 or earlier.

This is the first time Chicago, Cheap Trick, the Cars, Chaka Khan, The J.B.'s, Janet Jackson, Los Lobos and Steve Miller have been nominated. Last year's Hall of Fame class included Green Day, Lou Reed, Paul Butterfield Blues Band, Joan Jett & The Blackhearts, Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble and Ringo Starr.

Ice Cube released the following statement about N.W.A getting the Hall of Fame nod: "I am humbled by the nomination and recognition of NWA's contribution to music and culture by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. It has been an incredible year for us as a group, for our loyal fans and in helping us to all keep Eazy-E's memory alive."
