After appearing in a music video for J.R. and Trey Songz's "Best Friend," a Southampton principal has found herself in foreign territory.

According to Newsday, Esther Adler-O'Keefe has been reassigned to “oversee a variety of academic support services throughout the district" following her brief cameo as a homeowner going on vacation.

The music video, which then goes on to feature a house party ripe with booze and dancing women, has gained attention in Southhampton, where students have started to exchange the video online. The ensuing backlash against Adler-O'Keefe stems from the video's images and song's lyrics, both of which are explicit in sexual nature.

“The video in question showcases behaviors and language use that is not promoted by the Southampton School District,” school superintendent Dr. Scott Farina tells the Southampton Press. “In fact, we actively teach our students the importance of good character and making smart choices. Additionally, this is not representative of who we are as a district, nor of our students and staff.”

Adler-O'Keefe denied any knowledge of the contents of the video or song in an e-mailed statement to Southampton Press. "Had I known of such content or lyrics, I certainly would not have participated in any fshion. I find the lyrics and content of the music video vulgar, offensive, and demeaning, " she wrote.

Adler-O'Keefe had worked in the school district for five years, responsible for high school discipline. Although, tossing beach balls, as she does at the end of "Best Friend," was never a part of her corrective techniques.—Ted Simmons
