As one of the great poets of our time said, "I did another one, I did another one." Just one day after an elementary school teacher from Alabama was roundly criticized for wearing Blackface as part of a Kanye West Halloween costume, a high school student from Hilliard, Fla. is under fire for doing the same thing in hopes of looking like Nicki Minaj. The student's Twitter has been deleted after she issued an apology; nonetheless, a quick search turns up a handful of screenshotted tweets where she appears to be mocking Black people and Black culture. Her costume consisted of crudely applied Blackface, a leopard print dress, a blond wig and makeshift implants. She appears in pictures alongside a white student dressed as Drake, fortunately in his own skin tone. Stop wearing Blackface. Do not wear Blackface. If you are thinking about wearing Blackface, remember that you should not.

In the past year, Nicki Minaj has: dropped her third chart-topping album; been tapped to remix #1 singles; landed her own TV show; successfully defended her wax figure; checked Miley Cyrus; checked Taylor Swift; checked bootleggers; started one of hip-hop's most visible relationships; been the biggest donor to Amber Rose's slut walk; got her own video game; had her songs used as protests against pollution in India; visited kids in the hospital; worked with Madonna; seen her face lined up at cathedrals in Finland; demanded orgasms; dropped videos with Beyonce; been showered with awards; made some Bar Mitzvahs very happy; had simultaneous top-ten hits; and more.
