Flavor Flav pled guilty this week to criminal charges stemming from a traffic stop that occurred as the Public Enemy rapper was trying to get to his mother's funeral. According to Billboard, Flav entered his guilty plea in Nassau Criminal Court on Tuesday (Oct. 13), copping to unlicensed aggravated operation of a motor vehicle. If convicted, Flav could have faced up to four years in prison, but a prosecutor at Tuesday's proceeding recommended six months. Despite this, acting state Supreme Court Judge Terrence Murphy expressed that he understood the extenuating circumstances surrounded the arrest. Murphy sentenced Drayton to time served for the hours he spent in custody after his arrest and fined him just over $3,600.

The 56-year-old rapper-turned-reality TV star was arrested on Jan. 9, 2014 while rushing to his mother's funeral service and was indicted on a felony charge of driving with a suspended license, speeding and two misdemeanors. Although Flav has settled the charges in New York, he is still facing criminal charges in Las Vegas that stem from a May arrest. The MC born William Drayton, Jr. will go to trial on Thursday for his charges of misdemeanor speeding, driving under the influence of cocaine and having an open container of alcohol in his vehicle, to which he pled not guilty.
