Drake might have spoken too soon when he claimed his "acting days are over." Even though he's for all intensive purposes dominated the rap game in 2015, many still remember Aubrey "Drake" Graham as the squeaky clean child actor who played Jimmy Brooks on the Canadian drama Degrassi: The Next Generation back in the day. In a new cover story with W Magazine's Art, Drizzy reports that he was actually fired from the show for focusing too much on music.

“That was part of the reason I was kicked off the show,” Drake explains. “Back then, I’d spend a full day on set and then go to the studio to make music until 4 or 5 a.m. I’d sleep in my dressing room and then be in front of the cameras again by 9 a.m. Eventually, they realized I was juggling two professions and told me I had to choose. I chose this life.”

But now, with a career path more on his own terms now, Drake wants to get back into the craft that first made him famous. And he's set his sights on the big screen.

"I can’t wait to get back into acting," the "Hotline Bling" rapper told the mag. "No one ever asks me to do movies, and, although music is my focal point now, I’d love to do a film. That was the life that I lived before, and it would be interesting to live it again."

The 6 God has already had a banner year, dropping two buzzed-about mixtapes, beefing with Meek Mill and becoming the first rapper to have a collaborative sole with Air Jordan. Not to mention the OVO frontman has already proven he's still got his acting chops with a cameo in Anchorman 2 and a comical hosting gig at 2014's ESPY Awards. So adding a movie role to the mix would not only be a smart business move, it would bring his run full circle.

Drizzy's W Art cover hits newsstands on Oct. 27.
