Earlier this year, the BET Awards decided to dedicate a portion of their show to honoring Bad Boy, the Diddy-founded label that's celebrating its 20th anniversary. And though the original roster had been torn apart by a tragic death, and a series of contract disputes and incarcerations, they still have their catalogue of hits. During a medley of those--when "It's All About the Benjamins" hit, to be specific--Diddy took an unfortunate fall off the stage, through a hole in the floor. The incident blew up social media; despite his recovering and finishing the set in fine fashion, one of the richest and post powerful men in rap had literally fallen victim to his own trap. Last night (Oct. 29), the rapper, producer and mogul stopped by Late Night With Seth Meyers to give his side of the story.

"What happened was," Diddy said, twirling a Ciroc martini. "I'm performing in front of, like, 30 million people live on TV. I pride myself on being one of the coolest guys in the world. I don't make mistakes like this. So I walk over the trap door. Lil Kim is about to come up. I get a little excited. Kendrick Lamar is in the front. I'm competitive." At this point, Diddy starts pantomiming his on-stage dance moves. He goes on: "I run up, I'm like 'Kendrick, you see me, you see me rocking.' But I forget about the trap door behind me that was closed when I was going out to the front. So when I turned around it was open."

Though good natured about the fall, he then explains why he deserves credit for what happened next: "But let me tell you this, there's a part they didn't show. I'm a super hero. They call me Black Man. I'm falling through the hole. It feels like it's three hours, it's only 2.2 seconds. My superpowers-- I put my arms out to the side, I push myself up, I throw myself up in the air. I land on beat, but I have this embarrassing look on my face, but I'm not facing the camera. So I say to myself, you better get this look off your face."
