Since it's release, Straight Outta Compton has been a runaway smash at the box office. Number one at the box office for the third week in a row, the film hasn't sat well with everyone and the latest to speak out is original Ruthless Records group, J.J. Fad. Based in California's Inland Empire, J.J. Fad, a group consisting of female artists MC J.B., Baby D and Sassy C, scored a platinum hit for Ruthless with "Supersonic" and helped bankroll N.W.A in its early days. Despite their major impact on the group, J.J. Fad was not even mentioned in passing in Straight Outta Compton.

The Los Angeles Times caught up with members of the group and former N.W.A manager, Jerry Heller, to discuss their careers and their omission from the flick. Fad had worked, toured and collaborated with N.W.A during the period portrayed in the movie and developed a special relationship with the guys. "They were our family. They were like brothers," said Baby D. "We go to sleep with them, wake up with them. 'Let's go to the studio -- work with them.' It was everything. It just seemed like, you don't forget about people that easily. I mean, I didn't... I want to see [the movie] again and again. It's just that it would have taken literally two seconds to say our name."

Added Heller, "They generated a lot of money for [Ruthless]. People never thought about some of the swtuff we had there, like J.J. fad and Michel'le, but that was a big part of the Ruthless story...Eazy and I loved those girls."
