Today, Sept. 28, is the birthday of Georgia rapper Jeezy. The Snowman now turns 41.

The gravelly-voiced MC has made a name for himself in the rap game since the early 2000's. First going by the stage moniker Lil J, Jeezy dropped his own independent debut album Thuggin' Under the Influence (T.U.I) in 2001. Jeezy's street bars and steadfast conviction caught the ears of the music industry and he soon signed to Def Jam Records where he dropped his debut studio album Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 in 2005. Let's Get It: Thug Motivation 101 boasted three chart topping singles, "And Then What" "Soul Survivor" and "My Hood" which shot Young Jeezy to stardom.Always keeping his connection with the streets intact, Jeezy has collaborated with Southern greats like Gucci Mane and 2 Chainz as well as Birdman, Jay Z and E-40.

Jeezy has become much more political with his raps over the years. In 2008, to commemorate the election of America's first Black president Barack Obama, Jeezy dropped "My President" as a single off his upcoming album The Recession. The song became an anthem for the country in celebration of Obama's first years in office.

In November 2015, Jeezy dropped Church In These Streets, a project mostly centered around conscious rap like "God" about America's police brutality issues as well as an open letter about societal injustices. With other singles like "Church in These Streets," "Gold Bottles" and "Sweet Life" featuring Janelle Monae, Church in These Streets debuted at No. 4 on the Billboard 200. Jizzle followed that up with a masterful seventh studio album Trap or Die 3 in October 2016 which hit the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 upon its debut, moving 89,000 units first week .

In December 2017, Jeezy dropped off his Pressure album, his eighth major label LP.

Happy Birthday, Jeezy!
