During Sunday night's (Aug. 30) MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West shocked the world when he announced his plan to run for president in 2020. The announcement came at the end of his Video Vanguard Award acceptance speech, which social media had a field dayRolling Stone caught up with Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, who shared his opinion on Kanye's random declaration. "Somehow there are comparisons made so often, which is interesting, comparisons with Kanye and myself. I don't quite get it, but he's said very nice things about me in the past," said Trump in the video above, "That's very interesting. I wonder who gave him that idea?" He goes on to praise Kanye despite many people's opinion of the rapper. "He's actually a different kind of a person than people think. He's a nice guy," Trump added before saying he hopes to run against West someday.

Yesterday (Sept 1) Jimmy Kimmel compared Kanye West's VMA speech to Donald Trump's presidential speeches and found a lot of similarities. Apparently, they share similar views on issues regarding marijuana legalization, branding, big business and more. Whether or not Kanye West actually runs for president in the 2020 election remains to be seen. The White House seems to be looking forward to the moment though. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest said that he looks “forward to seeing what slogan he chooses to embroider on his campaign hat.” "Ready For Kanye,” a newly formed PAC out of Maryland, has already submitted its statement of organization to the Federal Election Commission (FEC).
