Since when did hip-hop become obsessed with countdowns? In the past 12 months alone, we've seen Kanye (twice, for each of his #YeezySeason adidas collections) and A$AP Rocky (for his single "Multiply") utilize the technique by stringing fans along until something happens when the numbers hit zero. And now we've got another one.

As rumors began to swirl last week about a potential collaborative mixtape between Drake and Future—spurred on by the sudden appearance of some epic cover art and some industry insiders hinting at its veracity—many didn't really know what to expect. Sure, the two MCs have collaborated multiple times over the years, most recently on Future's excellent single "Where Ya At," but with Future's DS2 still burning up stereos and fans still waiting expectantly for Drizzy's Views From The 6, it seemed like an odd time for a full joint project to arrive.

That is until today, when a mysterious countdown appeared on a website called Put It All In A Plastic Bag. The site has no other information on it except for the two MCs' names and their respective record labels, OVO Sound and Freebandz Gang. Whether it's real or not, the end time appears to be at 11 p.m. on Friday night, suggesting that fans will have a whole new reason to celebrate this weekend.

So, with two more days to wait, it's fair to speculate about what Drake and Future have in store for the people. A mixtape? An album? Nothing at all? Reps for both artists declined to comment on the rumors. For now, the wait continues.
