Chris Brown Is Being Sued By a Fan Injured During Nightclub Shooting

In January, Chris Brown was caught in the middle of a San Jose club shooting that left five people injured and now the singer is being sued by one of the men hurt. According to TMZ, Brown is facing a lawsuit from Paul Briley, who was struck by a bullet and says he is permanently injured. Briley says that Brown failed to provide enough security at the event considering the singer had been caught up in another shooting that put Suge Knight in the hospital the previous August.

Brown's publicist, Nicole Perna, has issued a statement saying, "It is a poor reflection of our society that violence is so prevalent and it is always a tragedy when someone is physically harmed. However, this is a completely frivolous lawsuit. We expect that the case will be dismissed and in the future, to avoid these recurring meritless lawsuits directed at Chris Brown, we plan to seek damages from all parties and their lawyers.

In other news, the custody battle between Chris Brown and Nia Guzman over their daughter, Royalty, is turning ugly. According to reports from TMZ, Breezy and his estranged ex are due in court in two weeks and the singer is planning on using her dating history against her. The report states that Guzman, who is seeking full custody of one-year-old Royalty and monitored visitation for Brown, has had a previous relationship with man named King Ba (a.k.a. Brazil Riesling) who is wanted for felony forgery. Riesling is listed as the father of Royalty on the child's birth certificate since Brown was not originally known as the biological father. Brown is ready to use the man's alleged criminal history in court against Guzman and continues to say that the court battle has nothing to do with custody and is a money grab for Guzman, who is reportedly asking for $15,000 a month in child support.

Guzman has not taken the allegations sitting down. Instead of waiting for the situation to play out in court, Guzman's publicist, Domenick Nati, sent a statement to AllHipHop saying that her client is no longer in a relationship with Ba and she is not seeking fame or money from Brown:

The allegations that have been made against Nia Guzman are completely false. Nia has not been in a dating relationship with Ba for several months and she has no criminal record and has never taken part in any criminal activity with Ba. Also, Nia is not trying to obtain any fame or additional money from Chris Brown other than the child support that is expected for the raising of their child, and she asks that the press and general public would stop hurling false accusations at her and her daughter.

On the music front, Brown announced that his upcoming album will be named after his daughter and will simply be titled, Royalty. The project is slated for a fall drop.
