Rick Ross was part of the summer's biggest hip-hop finance story, albeit tangentially. 50 Cent made waves when he filed for bankruptcy protection after a judge ordered him to pay $5 million to the mother of Ross' child, for distributing and promoting her sex tape against her will. (Ross was not the other party in the sex tape.) But now, the head honcho of Maybach Music Group is facing a suit of his own. According to TMZ, a promotion group called Conexts is suing the rapper for $55,000 for failing to come through on his end of a Super Bowl party deal. The bash, which was to be held Jan. 30 at the Scottsdale Mall Amphitheater in Arizona, required Ross to promote the party once per day on his social media accounts in the two weeks leading up to the event. The suit claims that he made only one such promotion, and that the lack of effort was a major contributing factor to the party's cancellation due to flagging ticket sales. Conexts is seeking $55,000, which is the amount Ross was paid up front, plus damages. Had the party gone on as planned, another $55,000 was due to Ross upon its completion.

The newly svelte Miami native has laid relatively low since the beginning of July, when he paid $2 million to bail himself out of jail. Ross and his bodyguard have been charged in Fayette County, Ga. with kidnapping, aggravated assault and aggravated battery stemming from an altercation with a groundskeeper at one of the rapper's homes.
