Master P Is Releasing His Own Biopic

As N.W.A’s biopic Straight Outta Compton opens in theaters nationwide today (Aug. 14), Master P announces his own upcoming biopic and releases the first trailer of the film. Ice Cream Man: King of the South will chronicle P’s early days of New Orleans trap scene. And P isn’t waiting until some big budget movie studio comes calling for the rights. P is directing the film himself and releasing it through No Limit Forever Films. In the first trailer released, we see the No Limit Solider go from a young, gold-toothed gangster in grainy home video to the hip-hop mastermind he is today.

Although it might seem a little bias to direct your own biopic, Master P does have some prior directing experience. P directed the 1997 hood classic comedy, I’m Bout It in which he enlisted nearly all of the No Limit Records roster as cast members and released the film’s soundtrack. In 1998, he released MP Da Last Don in conjunction with his seventh album. Starring in that movie were No Limit regulars like Silkk The Shocker and C-Murder plus Snoop Dogg also made an appearance. The music mogul has the means and the motive to get it done.

The film will be written by Percy “Master P” Miller, Parde Bridget and Wayne Conley and is scheduled for release in theaters Spring 2016. Check out the first official trailer of Ice Cream Man: King of the South above.
