Happy Birthday, Freeway!

Today, Aug. 6, is the birthday of Philadelphia rapper Freeway. Philly Freeway is now 39 years old.

Born Leslie Edward Pridgen, Freeway is known for his gritty rhymes, Roc-A-Fella come up and contribution to the highly popularized grooming trend, sunnah beard. While many remember Freeway during his State Property days, when he rocked the mic with Beanie Sigel, Peedi Peedi and the Young Gunz, the Muslim rapper has supplied the hip-hop world with several hits on his own.

With tracks like "Flipside", "What You Want" and "Full Effect", there is no excuse to not blast Freeway's music today. A man driven by the love of his Muslim faith and true-to-life music, Freeway dropped off Highway Robbery in 2014 with the late, great The Jacka. Free, along with Beanie Sigel have both expressed interest in working with Jay Z again and were both present at HOV's B-Sides concert in May 2015.

Freeway has been showing love to the young bucks lately, collaborating with Manolo Rose and Dave East in 2017. This past June, Free unloaded sixth studio album, Think Free, and, in his efforts to continue working with the new generation, he teamed with his fellow Philly rapper, Lil Uzi Vert, on a track called "Swagger on a Mayo."
