Today, Aug. 14, is the birthday of famed hip-hop disc jockey and producer, DJ Kay Slay. He is now 52.

Born Keith Grayson in New York City, Slay started his career as a skilled graffiti artist under the name Dez before getting into drugs and ending up in jail. Once out, Slay turned his attention to music and released his debut album, The Streetsweeper, Vol. 1 in 2003, working with Dipset, Amerie, Foxy Brown, Eminem and more.

Kay Slay followed up his debut with three more albums and 20 mixtapes, the most recent of which being The Rap Attack, which dropped in July 2016. A prominent name in the game, Slay has worked with everyone from Busta Rhymes, Papoose and Vado to French Montana, Chinx and 50 Cent. Last year, he dropped off his latest effort, The Big Brother project.

Happy Birthday, Kay Slay!
