It's no secret that DJ Mustard gets irked when he hears the radio. All through in the hip-hop and pop industries, people are raking in checks for beats that sound like what he's been working on most of this decade. And sometimes, those beats get so popular that he can't help but speak out. Earlier this week, Dijon himself took to Twitter to lament that, while the producers of Iggy Azalea's massive 2014 hit "Fancy" and those who worked on Jidenna's breakout single "Classic Man" have been careful not to step on each other's toes, they're both ripping off Mustard's sound. (Even though "Classic Man" doesn't sample "Fancy," the producers of the former gave Iggy Azalea a split of the publishing, in part due to the landmark "Blurred Lines" decision.)

Now, the producer behind "Rack City" and a bevy of other hits is clarifying his position. Mustard called in to Hot 97 to speak with Ebro and Rosenberg about the situation. On the charge that he's speaking out because his musical output has slowed down, the beatsmith responds "Let's clear that up right here," and notes that he's been on the Billboard charts since he first broke through. Mustard says that he has no plans to sue the creators of "Fancy" or "Classic Man," but that he's offended Azalea's producers continue to profit as trendsetters when they're "not even part of the culture." But he made it a point to say that he'll persevere and continue to channel older California sounds in an innovative way.
