Charles Hamilton's first project since his return to music drops new month. He took to Instagran to reveal that The Black Box EP drops Sept. 18. There really isn't any information on the project. Following his new deal with Republic Records in February, the former XXL Freshman was thought to be hard at work on his still-unreleased debut album. Before that happens, it appears fans will get an EP to appease their hunger for new music.

He previouly released “New York Raining,” featuring Rita Ora, “Correct” and "Headed to the Top" earlier this year. He also had a sick freestyle on Hot 97 and on the sidewalk with Vic Mensa, another former XXL Freshman. He made his return to the stage at SOBs in May and performed songs for his huge catalog. Hamilton spoke about his hiatus from the music industry and revealed that he "wanted to commit career suicide, physical suicide, spiritual suicide" at one point in his life. We spoke to Hamilton about his return to hip-hop and to find out what fans can expect after such a long time out of the spotlight.

"Grade-A lyricism and a lot of progressive instrumentals," he said. "These beats are truly a testament to my musicianship. It’s truly refreshing. It’s not as bleak as my older beats; it’s not as dark. But making that adjustment has led to some really great records. I think hip-hop could use a reprieve from the very electric sound that it’s gone into."
