Philadelphia mayor Michael Nutter might be the realest politician in the game. With The Roots as his backing band and Black Thought as his hypeman, Nutter ripped through the Sugarhill Gang's classic "Rapper's Delight" at Philly's 4th of July Jam over the weekend. After he ripped through the track rapping every bar perfectly, Nutter dropped the mic to wrap up his last 4th of July Jam as the mayor of the city. Watch the performance above.

This isn't the first time Mayor Nutter has grabbed the mic. Back in 2010, Nutter joined DJ Jazzy Jeff at the opening of the Mitchell & Ness store in Philadelphia and performed "Rapper's Delight" for the amassed crowd:

Before entering the political landscape, Nutter was known as Mix Master Mike and was a mainstay on the 1's and 2's. In an interview with Jump Philly from 2010, Nutter credited spending his early 20's in the clubs to breaking into politics. "I was working about 60 hours per week at the club. It was just a different form of education," said the mayor. "I was an early subscriber of never letting your schooling interfere with your education. Through that, I met a bunch of people involved in politics. One thing led to another. I started getting involved in the neighborhood political and civic scene. This was the early 80s. The I worked on a campaign in 1983 for council at-large John Anderson. That, of course, was the year W. Wilson Goode Sr. was running for mayor and would be the first African-American mayor of the city of Philadelphia. My guy, councilman Anderson, won. He came in first out of 57 at-large candidates that year. W. Wilson Goode Sr. won the Democratic primary and I realized right at that moment, “This is what I want to do.”
