Nas along with Warner Music Group and a private equity fund operated by four famous DJs help are among the new backers for cloud-based mastering company Landr Audio. According to Billboard, along with prior investors YUL Ventures, Real Ventures and Cirque Du Soleil founders Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier, they've helped the startup raise $6.2 million.

The Montreal-based company popped up about a year ago and specializes in automated mastering, the final stage of production before music is released. This kind of service would be ideal for aspiring producers because it gives their tracks a professional finishing touch at a low cost. Landr, previously called Mix Genius, currently has 25,000 paying customers and 250,000 users in total, according to Globe and MailUsers choose a monthly or annual fee based on the level of service and file types. They call their process of mastering records "nearly foolproof." All users have to do is upload their files and tweak the controls available to get their desired sound. Nas called Landr "an affordable" technology that can produce music with "a quality finish like any major label artist with a budget."

The group of DJs, consisting of Pete Tong, Richie Hawtin, Tiga and John Acquaviva, operate Plus Eight Equity fund together, which contributed to Landr's fund. They've also invested in cloud-based collaboration service Splice, along with WME, Tiësto and Steve Angello.

The hip-hop legend has been making big business investments lately. Already the face of Hennessy, Nas announced a Sprite campaign that will bring his lyrics to the company's soda cans across the country. He is also teaming up with Sweet Chick, a New York City restaurant specializing in chicken and waffles.
