DeJ Loaf releases her cover art for her new EP #AndSeeThatsTheThing exclusively through XXL. The artwork finds the Detroit native glamoured up, showing off her natural beauty and elegance. It looks more of like a fine painting you hang in your house than artwork for an EP. "I wanted the cover art for #AndSeeThatsTheThing to be a self photo that needed no explanation," she said about the artwork. "I wanted the people to understand everything in one photo and kind of be like 'exactly, I get it' because the title itself to me, means there's no going around this. This is it, I'm here to stay. Different Flavors, different style. Anything I wanna do I can do it."

DeJ already released her lead single off #AndSeeThatsTheThing this month titled “Back Up” featuring Big Sean. The fiery club banger samples famous Detroit house song “Back Up Off Me” by DJ Clent, boasting heavy bass and major bounce. The song is already a city-wide juke anthem and fans can been seen doing the Detroit Jit dance during her performances. The 2015 XXL Freshman has been encouraging fans on her socials to try the dance for themselves and share their videos to her. You can purchase the single here.

The 24-year-old upstart is currently opening for Nicki Minaj on The Pinkprint tour and will be performing in major cities such as Atlanta, Miami and Toronto. Fans should check her website and local box office for additional information.

DeJ spoke with us about life after being an XXL Freshman.

"After the Freshman cover, you just really go up," she said. "You’re working and your music is getting heard and people are recognizing you. It’s about the recognition, really. I don’t think I’m underestimated. It’s too early in the game to be underestimated. I feel like I got a lot of work to do. I’m finally being heard. People are finally hearing me. I’ve been doing music for quite some time and to see me on the cover is going to be like, ‘Wow, DeJ made it.’ Especially for my city, it’s going to be real important to them. They watched me do this for some time and I know they’re going to be proud of me and I’m happy to carry that for my city and for every up-and-coming artist, like, ‘You can do it, too,’ basically.”
