50 Cent's financial state has dominated headlines all week and after filing for bankruptcy just months after Forbes estimated his net worth to be $155 million. Yesterday, The Wrap obtained documents that claimed the rapper owes over $28 million to creditors including his grandfather, Rick Ross' baby mother and Sleek Audio. The documents allegedly say that Fif owes the majority of the $28.5 million ($18,428,257 to be exact) to Sleek Audio, an audio company that claimed the rapper stole their product design and confidential private client information for SMS Audio. Fifty was in a legal battle with Sleek for the better part of 2014.

The documents also allege that Fifty owes Lavonia Leviston $5 million for damages and infliction of emotional distress caused by her sextape going public on his website. The G-Unit frontman also allegedly owes his grandfather right around $1,700, Bentley $137,880 in lease fees and more than $1 million in legal bills.

Fifty and his lawyer team released a statement regarding the somewhat shocking news which can be read as follows:

Hartford, CT…July 13, 2015 – Attorneys for Curtis Jackson, a/k/a 50 Cent, today announced that their client has filed for relief under chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code. The filing allows Mr. Jackson to reorganize his financial affairs, as he addresses various professional liabilities and takes steps to position the future of his various business interests.

Mr. Jackson’s business interests will continue unaffected in the ordinary course during the pendency of the chapter 11 case.

“This filing for personal bankruptcy protection permits Mr. Jackson to continue his involvement with various business interests and continue his work as an entertainer, while he pursues an orderly reorganization of his financial affairs,” says William A. Brewer III, partner at Brewer, Attorneys & Counselors and counsel to Mr. Jackson.”

Publicly, the rapper doesn't seem phased by the situation and has been joking about the headlines while promoting Southpaw, a film he stars in. While on Conan earlier this week, the rapper joked he "Needs protection" after being asked about the bankruptcy filling. He then went on to say, "When you're successful and in the public [eye], you become the ideal person for people to [bring a lawsuit against.]"
