One of the best perks of being a celebrity is getting to try out the freshest new gear before anyone else. And for these hip-hop stars, the new wave is hands free segways.

A segway is essentially a two-wheeled, self-balancing robo scooter that allows the user to glide around with ease in place of walking, because it's the future and nobody walks anywhere anymore—especially not if you're a rich, young and powerful celeb.

Segways are not exactly the newest trend in mobile technology. The original segway was first introduced to the general public in 2001 and featured a handlebar for the user's stability. You might have seen local law enforcement using segways to patrol your neighborhood mall or parks back in the day. But these new and improved segways by Hover Trax, IO Hawk and Phunkee Duck are being promoted by rappers all over Instagram lately. And admit it, if you see Wiz Khalifa whipping on a segway, it just makes the invention seem so much cooler.

For more coordinated hip-hop stars like Chris Brown and Usher, the no hands segway is one of the best new toys in their repertoire. Soulja Boy is even trying to get in the segway game himself by launching his own brand, fittingly titled Souljaboards.

Check out how these MCs and singers are using this new wave to mobile tech.
