Nipsey Hu$$le has been arrested for possession of codeine.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Crenshaw rapper was leaving his studio Wednesday night (June 24) i  Burbank, Calif. when police noticed he was driving without license plates. During the stop, cops found an outstanding warrant for Nipsey for driving with a suspended license, according to Lt. Adam Cornils. When the officers asked the former XXL Freshman, born Ermias Asghedom, for his registration, they noticed a bottle of codeine, soda and styrofoam cups filled with ice after the 29-year old rapper consented to a search. Basically Nipsey was whipping with some sizzurp in his car.

"People who abuse codeine to get high commonly acquire it either from friends/associates or through fraudulent prescriptions, and remove the prescription label to mask where it came from and who it was prescribed to," said Cornils.

My client, Ermias Asghedom, has a severe strep throat condition from performing multiple shows monthly and was prescribed cough syrup as a remedy. He is currently in the final stages of the recording process of his new album Victory Lap, and couldn't project his voice without treatment. The night of his arrest we was not driving but parked in front of a recording studio in Burbank when he was approached by the police. He willingly allowed the officers to search his car and told them where the cough syrup was. After running his name they found an outstanding traffic warrant that he was taken into custody for and cited out for later that night. I have contacted the courts and began the exoneration process for the cough syrup simply by providing his prescription. He is doing great and excited about his upcoming album release.

The West Coast native was a recent guest on Big Boy Neighborhood for a good 30-minute conversation. He spoke about his debut album Victory Lap and why he turned down a role in to play Snoop Dogg in Straight Outta Compton. "I just been in album mode. It's coming this year for sure. Once I'm done it's not gunna take long to get it out," he said on the album. Nip also spoke on his business endeavors and building a new studio in Burbank, Calif.

Nipsey's most recent project was Mailbox Money, which he sold special edition copies for a $1000. Watch that interview below.
