Did Lil Wayne go from a Hot Boy to a Roc Boy? Last night, Tune was performing at KMEL's Summer Jam event and used his time on stage to make a major announcement. During a slight break in the action, Wayne told the crowd, "I just signed a deal with my motherfucking idol Jay Z."

The "signing" comes on the heals of Wayne dropping the new song "Glory" exclusively on Hov's Tidal streaming service. It was reported then that the New Orleans rapper had joined Jigga as a co-owner of the relaunched brand. The song also came with the news that Wayne is planning a concert exclusively for Tidal X.

According to Cortez Bryant, Wanye's manager, the deal Lil Wayne was speaking of is the aforementioned Tidal partnership. "The Internet and blogs took his words out of context," Bryant tells Billboard. "When Wayne was speaking about the partnership with Jay Z, he was speaking about his new deal as an artist owner with Tidal."

Back in 2005, Jay was courting Wayne when he was contemplating getting out of his contract at Cash Money. Talks eventually fell through and Wayne was given his own label, Young Money, to stay down with CMR. My, how things have come full circle, with Wayne now fighting tooth and nail to be free of Cash Money. Earlier in the week Weezy signed a deal with Kobalt Neighbouring Rights to help collect his global royalties in his ongoing battle with Birdman and Cash Money Records. This could be yet another sign that Wayne is all but done with his stint on his longtime record label.
