Joey Bada$$ and Troy Ave Diss Each Other

Two former XXL Freshmen artists are dissing each other. Joey Bada$$ and Troy Ave sent subliminal shots at each other via Twitter. Earlier today, Joey Bada$$ went online to boast about his debut album sales numbers and how he's the number one independent hip-hop artist in the world.

Those tweets seem to caught Troy Ave's attention and he responded back via Twitter, questioning Joey's album sales and calling out if the Flatbush native's independent status.

The issue revolves around the Troy's Major Without A Deal first week album sales. It was the center of attention a few weeks back after it was initially reported that his LP sold less than 5,000 copies in its debut sales week, including 30 physical CDs, despite including guest features from Rick Ross, Jeezy, Ty Dolla $ign and A$AP Ferg, among others. Dope Boy Troy and his sales numbers were widely mocked on Twitter, resulting in Troy Ave to become a trending topic. After the initial reports, Billboard released its numbers clarifying what was wrong with the initial report. Major Without A Deal was released as a digital-only title in its first week on the independent label BSB Records through a distribution deal with EMPIRE Distribution. The initial reports only indicated the three days of sales supporting its initial sales week. The album was first released exclusively through digital retailers on Friday, June 5 and the 4,000 copies sold in the week ended on June 7. The reason for the rush release as a digital-only album was due to Troy Ave's performance at Hot 97 Summer Jam on June 7 at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. Also the 30 physical copies sold, which was the crux of many of the memes, was CDs sold by retailers who ignored the physical CD's street date, and opted to sell the CD early. These sales are often referred to as "street date violation" sales. Based on its first three days of digital-only sales, Major Without a Deal was No. 2 on the Heatseekers Albums chart, No. 13 on Rap Albums, No. 14 on Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and No. 14 on Independent Albums.

Troy has previously spoken out about the ridicule and was on HOT 97's Ebro In The Morning today to once again address why he's the biggest independent artist in hip-hop. They debated over his sales and his label situation. Watch the heated discussion below.
