Apple Wants Drake to Guest DJ on iTunes Radio

Apple is trying to get Drake to guest DJ on iTunes Radio.

According to the New York Post, Drizzy is in a $19 million negotiation with Apple to fill a guest slot on their Beats streaming service. The "6 God" is among other artists the company is in talks with. Pharrell and David Guetta are also negotiating to have time slots of their own. Seeking out major names is a smart move for Apple as it tries to outshine companies like Spotify and Tidal. Back in April, Florence and the Machine and Taylor Swift were on Apple's radar as the company sought the exclusive streaming rights to their music.

Apple has been meeting with labels to discuss the terms of the DJ deals. The tech company plans to offer users a three-month trial of its $10/month subscription service. Users will have access to music and videos, artists’ pages, a post-it-yourself destination called Apple Connect and a relaunch of iTunes Radio.

Last May, Apple confirmed the plan to purchase of Beats Electronics for for $3 billion. It is the acquisition that Apple has ever made. Beats co-founders Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre will joined Apple as part of the acquisition, which it will pay for with $2.6 billion in cash and $400 million in stock. Apple also purchased UK-based startup Semetric, an analytics company, to help support Beats Music.
