Snoop Dogg Thinks ‘Game Of Thrones’ Is Based off Historical Events

HBO's hit show Game of Thrones is a fan favorite among a number of rappers and hip-hop heads. So much so that the network started dropping series themed mixtapes with appearances from MCs like Method Man, Stalley, Talib Kweli and others. One of the show's biggest supporters in the hip-hop community is California legend Snoop Dogg, but apparently the Doggfather thinks the fantasy drama is based off real events. Snoop, who provided the track "Lannister’s Anthem" on the Game of Thrones: Catch the Throne Vol. 2 mixtape recently did an interview with the NewYorkPost where he opened up a little too much on his knowledge (or lack thereof) of the show. "I watch it for historic reasons, to try to understand what this world was based on before I got here," said Snoop. "I like to know how we got from there, to here, and the similarities between then and now."

Game of Thrones is an adaptation of George R. R. Martin's series of novels titled A Song of Ice and Fire, and for the record, is pure fantasy concocted in the mind of the author complete with fictional people, locations and dragons. But Snoop might have a point about the similarities between the show and current times. "That kings still rule and a bitches fucked everything up, in every situation," he said.
