Kanye West Thanks Cher For Using Autotune

By 2008, Autotune had become the style du jour in Top 40 rap--T-Pain made a name (and small fortune) for himself employing it on hooks for other artists, and  stars like Lil Wayne had begun experimenting. But starting with his turn on Young Jeezy's "Put On," and continuing with his genre-bending breakup album 808s & Heartbreak. West is currently prepping the release of his seventh solo album, tentatively titled Swish. On New Year's Eve, he released "Only One," an ode to his daughter and late mother co-written Paul McCartney and sporting heavy doses of Autotune.
