Today, May 8, is the birthday of Compton rapper Jason Martin, better known as his stage name, Problem. Today, he turns 33.

Problem's career in music started off behind the scenes as a writer and producer. Problem's talents in production were highlighted on Snoop Dogg's 2007 compilation album, Snoop Dogg Presents The Big Squeeze. He went on to work with Snoop again on his ninth studio album, Ego Trippin'.

Showing off his skills on the mic, Problem dropped his first mixtape in 2006 called Deal or No Deal followed by Deal or No Deal 2:Universal Cut the Check in 2008. Problem has dropped numerous mixtapes to date.

In 2008, Problem, with the help of his cousin, founded Diamond Music Lane Music Group. Under Diamond, Problem collabed with rappers like Kendrick Lamar, E-40, Iamsu!, Warren G, Nipsey Hu$$le and more. In 2016 Problem and DJ Quik linked up to drop a project called Rosecrans EP while promising fans there would be an album to follow soon. In April 2017, the duo made good on the claim and dropped a full 12-track Rosecrans album.

Just about seven months later, Problem used his musical momentum to drop off his Selfish album, a project he told XXL reflected his more vulnerable side. Here's to hoping we get to see every side of Problem going forward.

Happy Birthday, Problem!
