Chris Gotti, brother of Irv Gotti and the one-time General Manager and Vice President of Murder Inc Records, has announced today (May 1) that he is launching his own digital music distribution company. Add Ventures Music Group, helmed by Gotti, CFO Tina Lorenzo, Executive Vice President Todd Simms and Head of Creative Direction Joe Cap aims to "educate and empower their artist about the music business while directly placing them in the lime light of digital audio/video music streaming communities." The first release from the company will come courtesy of pop artist Maddi Jane, whose self-titled EP is slated for a July release. "It’s been a long time coming," says Gotti, "and I’m just really excited to start with my new venture in music and show the world what Add Ventures music will be bringing to the table."

Murder Inc was founded just before the turn of the century by Irv Gotti, who had been given a Def Jam subsidiary after his production work with Jay Z, Ja Rule and other Def Jam artists had been successful. (Chris was listed on the masthead as a co-founder from the very beginning.) The imprint's first release was Ja's debut album, Venni Vetti Vicci, which came out in July of 1999. Along with Ashanti, Ja formed the backbone of the label. However, money laundering charges and other legal hangups forced what later became The Inc. off of Def Jam by the middle of the last decade.
