Watch the Trailer for the New 2Pac Documentary

Gobi Rahimi, the man who directed two of Tupac's music videos and produced several others, will be making a documentary about the rapper's last days. In hopes of raising the funds needed for the production, Rahimi has launched a crowdfunding campaign.

7Dayz is not to be confused with the upcoming Tupac biopic. The doc will recount the last week of Shakur's life as he lay in University Hospital following the 1996 Las Vegas drive-by shooting, Raihimi explains on the fund's site:

"I was waiting for Tupac at club 662 in Las Vegas after the Mike Tyson fight on September 7, 1996. Soon after, I was informed by rapper Nate Dogg that Tupac and Suge Knight had been shot and taken to University Hospital. I immediately rushed there to be by Tupac’s side. This was the first of an emotional 7 days that I sat guard over Tupac who was in an induced coma, riding the line between life and death. 7Dayz is the story of my experience at the hospital amidst death threats, undercover FBI informants and an uncooperative Police Department."

Rahimi, who was also a very close friend of Tupac's, hopes to create a narrative feature that incorporates his own footage of their last recording sessions together. "It’s not a movie about Tupac,” Rahimi told Deadline. "It’s a movie that will have Tupac in it. It’s about how he changed my life. I have archival footage that I shot of him that’s never been seen before that will be written into the film." The footage Gobi is referring to was shot while Pac was recording the unreleased One Nation.

The forthcoming project has raised $4,250. The goal is to raise $300,000. Supporters can choose one of the suggested giving levels, which come with various perks, or donate an amount of their choosing. There are 45 days left for the campaign.
