A$AP Rocky became one of the stars of last year's Sundance Film Festival for his role in the movie Dope. After generating a healthy buzz the movie was sold to Open Road Films and Sony for a a reported $7 million--one of the highest selling flicks from the festival. At the end of March, a teaser trailer was released that was captivating visually but told little about the movie. The trailer has been released and gives a deeper look into what has the makings to be a summer hit. Due out on June 19, the Rick Famuyiwa (Brown Sugar, Our Family Wedding)-directed film follows a bookish high school student (Shameik Moore) as he tries to get into Harvard and shed the "nerd" stereotype. When he and his crew get mixed up with a drug dealer played by A$AP Rocky, things take unexpected twists and turns as Moore and his friends dive into the world of drug dealing. In addition to Rocky, the film also features Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons, Zoe Kravitz, Vince Staples and Blake Anderson.

With a soundtrack that features four new songs from Pharrell, a cool aesthetic and some of the hottest names in hip-hop right now, Dope has the potential to fall in the same vein as classic hip-hop inspired movies like Friday, Juice, The Wood and more. Peep the trailer above.
