Ty Dolla $ign has, in short order, made a name for himself as one of the premier songwriters in hip-hop and R&B, lending his talents to hits from a litany of artists, able to bend and warp his stye enough to contribute to a project of just about any kind. But there comes a time when you have to step out on your own, and for Ty, that time is now. Today (April 15), the Californian announced that his debut album, Free TC, will be available on June 2. The record is named for his younger brother, who is currently serving a life sentence in prison for a murder both brothers insist he didn't commit. Ty has perviously said that Free TC will feature contributions from Nicki Minaj and Kendrick Lamar, with whom Ty claims to have an LA response for Jay Z and Alicia Keys' New York tribute "Empire State of Mind." Ty has been in the new this year for, among other musical outings, playing a role in the seemingly prolific collaboration between Kanye West and Paul McCartney.
