Chance the Rapper, Childish Gambino and actor/rapper Riz Ahmed were all named to the 2017 Time 100 list today. Among Time's honorees from all industries, including CEOs, entertainers, tech giants, politicians, athletes and inventors, these three rappers made the cut—and for good reason.

Chance has had a ground-breaking run this last calendar year, earning three Grammys off his 2016 free mixtape Coloring Book and donating $1 million to Chicago Public Schools. Childish Gambino struck Hollywood gold with his FX series Atlanta, which earned him two Golden Globes for Best Music or Comedy TV and for Best Actor in a Comedy Series. And London-born Riz Ahmed, also known as Riz MC, had his breakout role in 2016 with the HBO mini series The Night Of and dropped the album Cashmere as a part of the group Swet Shop Boys

Although this is a pretty big honor for this new crop of rap world luminaries, it's not the first time hip-hop has made an appearance on the list. Since 2005, plenty of rappers, singers, producers and moguls have been tapped to be apart of TIME's annual round up. Here are some examples of hip-hop's representation on the TIME 100.
