Happy Birthday, Roscoe Dash!

Today, April 2, is the 28th birthday of ATL rapper Roscoe Dash.

At just 20 years old, Roscoe Dash was hyping up the nation with his 2010 hit single, "All The Way Turnt Up." off his debut album, Ready Set Go!. The song was a top-50 Billboard hit, Roscoe was now a sought after singer, excelling at hooks and songwriting.

"All The Way Turnt Up" fit into the sound of the time, when the country was catching wind of Atlanta's post-crunk, more fun-oriented fare. "DJ turn me up, crank it to the max/I got lots of gwalla, I be blowing stacks," Roscoe sung, showing that hip-hop could still have fun.

Based on this success, Dash linked up with fellow Southern MC's and got on more club bangers, including Waka Flocka Flame's "No Hands." This college party mainstay went triple platinum, and was a highlight in the career of all three artists. In the next year, 2011, Roscoe was featured on Big Sean's "Marvin Gaye and Chardonnay," alongside Kanye West; the song went platinum. Collaborations with Lloyd, Dave East, DJ Drama and more came down the line.

Dash also began songwriting for artists. Dash earned a spot on the 2012 XXL Freshman roster and then after minimal controversy with G.O.O.D Music, Roscoe seemed to disappear. Now 28 and going by Roscoe Dash 2.0, the young MC has reemerged to drop singles and is producing his music independently.
