Dej Loaf refuses to be a one-dimensional rapper.

The pint-sized female MC found early success with her 2014 viral single, "Try Me," garnering the attention of music fans, critics and industry insiders. Sporting a bucket hat, baggy clothes and sunglasses in her first music video, fans responded to her sporty-chic look as a refresher from the usual oversexed female MCs in the game.

Determined not to fizzle out as a one-hit wonder, the soft-spoken yet steadily-climbing rapper has dropped collabs with Kid Ink and K Camp and was even tapped by Eminem for a guest appearance on the city-wide posse cut "Detroit vs. Everybody."

Then, on Friday, April 17, Lil Loaf seemed to make a 180 turn with her image when she dropped her latest music video for the single "Me U & Hennessy." Showing off her sexy side, Dej donned lingerie and revealing swimwear and invitingly rolled around her sheets in a Miami suite. And while some fans were confused by the rhymer's latest visual offering, the IBGM star says this shouldn't come as a shock.

"I got introduced in the game in a bucket hat, in all white, you know, the tomboy look," 24-year-old says. "So it was definitely a different side of me that I wanted to show in the work because I didn’t want them to just box me in just as one type of girl."

And when it came to dropping the official remix for the track, the Detroit native knew she wanted a big name to lend a hand with another verse, so she reached out to Lil Wayne.

"It’s really like a personal song. Some songs don’t need to be touched sometimes, and if it was going to be touched, I wanted it to be great," she says. "So he did a great job."

Even though she's hard at work on her debut album and a rising star in her own right, Dej admits she was taken aback when she finally heard Weezy F's addition.

"I was going crazy," she recalls. "I was like, 'Wow, he really did it. This crazy.' I knew he was going to do it just the way he did it."

Dej went on to say this career move was a long time coming and choice of her own.

"I only did it because I wanted to do it," she says. "I felt comfortable. And everything I do, I do it because I want to do it. You know, people are being like, ‘Oh, they got her doing this now, the industry changed her,' and it’s like, ‘No.’ [Laughs] They just think it's just all this crazy Illuminati-type shit. Like, I did it because I wanted to do it.

"I just wanted to switch it up. And you’re going to see more of it, too. It’s not the first and it’s not the last time."
