18 Great Posse Cuts Reppin’ a Particular City
A few weeks back, Chief Keef teamed up with a slew of well-known MCs from the Chicago area to release the street remix "Faneto." The track featuring Lil Bibby, Lil Herb, Lil Durk and King Louie is a great sign of unity for the streets of Chicago as well as the city's flourishing music scene. In last year's Shady XV compilation album, Eminem gathered up Detroit's elite rappers for the posse cut "Detroit vs. Everybody," which featured Royce da 5'9", Big Sean, Danny Brown, Trick Trick and Dej Loaf rapid over a boom bap beat produced by Eminem and Statik Selektah. (Statik would go on to lead the charge on the "Boston Vs. Everybody" remix a few days later.) The list of great posse cuts goes as far back as the 1980s, when Marley Marl and friends created the cult classic "The Symphony," with many more worthy tracks to follow.
Today, we honor some of the biggest city posse cuts by highlighting 18 of the best and biggest records that featured four or more rappers from their respective city or state on the same track. Represent, represent, y'all. —Roger Krastz
