T.I.’s New Album Will Be Called ‘Traps Open’

T.I. dropped the title for his upcoming album. While speaking with HHS87 (see video below), the the self-proclaimed King of the South took a moment to talk about his Paperwork trilogy, dropping the name of the second installment.

"This next one is going to be unapologetically gangsta," said Tip. "It's trap music...and it's called 'Traps Open.'"

Looks like he's taking it back to his Trap Muzik roots. As for features, the Atlanta rapper says he doesn't have any guests on the LP just yet.

In the past couple of weeks, Tip has dropped a couple of songs that have definitely given off that trap vibe. Take "Project Steps" for example, where T.I. spits gangsta bars over the Mars-produced track. He's also been featured on a number of bangers, including the "Lil Bit (remix)," Bankroll Fresh's "Dope Boy Shit (remix)," and Problem's "Hennessy" featuring Rich Homie Quan.

Although the ATL rapper is currently working on new music, he's also dealing with legal issues resulting from his role in Robin Thicke's "Blurred Lines." Marvin Gaye's family, who recently won a $7.3 million lawsuit against Thicke and Pharrell Williams, has turned their attention to Tip and are seeking compensation. Since this news broke, the ATL MC has denied having done anything wrong in the matter, saying the situation is out of his hands.

“I don’t know what’s going on,” he said. “I never really got caught up with that. I have nothing but admiration and respect for the legacy and the estate of Marvin Gaye and I have nothing but admiration and support for my partners, Pharrell…”
