President Barack Obama Says Jay Z and Kanye West Don’t Actually Text Him

When he gave a guest lecture at Oxford University earlier this month, Kanye tacked a lofty claim onto the end of one of his segments: "Obama calls the home phone, by the way." Now, while West is one of the most popular, critically acclaimed and influential musicians of this or any era, it appears he may have been overstating the closeness of his relationship to the most powerful man in the Western world. Last night (March 12) on Jimmy Kimmel Live, President Barack Obama spoke pointedly and unequivocally about the Ferguson police department, condemning them for disproportionately targeting people of color in their attempts to pad city revenue. On a more lighthearted note, he clarified that he does not, in fact, have Kanye West and wife Kim Kardashian-West's home phone number. He did say that he had met West twice, once when he was a Senator from Illinois--at the time he found Kanye "very soft-spoken"--and once at a more recent function. "Look, I love his music, he’s incredibly creative," Obama said. "But I don’t think I have his home number.”

Obama also participated in the running Kimmel bit wherein celebrities read mean tweets about themselves. The President will be in office for a little under two more years, until the next Presidential Inauguration in January of 2017. No word on his mixtape release date.

Kanye will also be at SXSW this year. Jimmy Kimmel confirmed that that 'Ye will be a special guest on his show during SXSW. Watch that below
