Before Drake was breaking Billboard records, he was a struggling MC trying to get on. In the upcoming flick Homecoming: The Lost Footage, longtime Drake colleague Jas Prince who was responsible for linking the Toronto rapper with Lil Wayne and Cash Money explained that Weezy initially thought Drake sucked.

"Wayne told me he sucked," says Prince. "He was like, 'Jas, don't play me that shit no more. It's not good.' But me, I'm so persistent when something I love and feel passionate about...I was like, 'Okay, cool.' But at the same time, I kept kinda pushing and pushing and slid Drake some music he wasn't supposed to have so he could rap over it and stay up to date with things. I had thrown Wayne a concert in Houston in '08 or '09 maybe. The next day I had to take Wayne to my jeweler....I played some Drake for him and I looked over to him and he was bobbing his head...I played him something else, I think it was 'Brand New' with Drake singing on it...I played him another song and Wayne was like, 'This dude is pretty nice.'"

The film, which is due out in select theaters in March, chronicles Drake's 2009 show at the Sound Academy in Toronto shortly before he signed with Young Money. The footage was thought to have been gone forever but Rap-A-Lot and Serious Entertainment somehow got their hands on the clips.
