Happy Birthday, Vado!

Today, March 13, is the 33rd birthday of Harlem rapper and Dipset member Vado.

Vado started writing and rapping in his teens thanks to the influence of friends around him like Jae Millz, Ma$e and Cam'ron. In 2009, Vado recorded with Dipset for the first time in the studio and by 2010, he released his debut mixtape Slime Flu, the first in a tape series of four.

On Slime Flu, Vado found a local hit with his song "Speaking In Tungs," which featured Cam'ron. The song was full of boasts from the two Harlem rappers, centered around how much women liked them. "Whole Harlem uptown we stayin' here/Chrome bottles, braclets and chandeliers," Vado rapped, sharing just how much luxury he was used to. "You know Vado ain't rich but damn near/As long as his man Cam there."

Over the years, Vado has collaborated with Meek Mill, Ace Hood, Maino and more on multiple of DJ Khaled's albums and in 2013 was signed to Khaled's We The Best Music Group. Vado has been known to link up with the newer acts like Troy Ave for tracks and dropped his mixtape, Slim Flu 5, in February 2015. His most recent release is Sinatra 2, which dropped in 2017.

Aside from music, Vado has been very vocal online about the state of police brutality and former President Obama's handling of it over the past two years.
