You probably don't think of Ben Stiller as the most forward-thinking hip-hop fan--remember the "Bad Boys For Life" video?--but he may have just put some of those concerns to bed. Last night (March 24) on Late Night With Seth Meyers, the movie star rose to Meyers' challenge to identify lyrics from songs by the legendary trio, including bars from "Root Down," "So Watcha Want," Sure Shot" and "Shake Your Rump." The conversation stemmed from the fact that the Beastie's Ad-Rock is co-starring in Stiller's newest film, While We're Young, playing the star's grounded, more reasonable foil.

But Stiller is no new fan. The Zoolander star can be seen rapping animatedly in the Beastie's 2006 documentary Awesome; I Fucking Shot That! He also joined the group at a 2008 voter turnout rally, trading places with Ad-Rock to rap the latter's verse from "Root Down." To go back even earlier, Still and Ad-Rock--who is acting under his given name, Adam Horowitz--used to run into each other at auditions when both were trying to crack the film industry.

As for Horovitz, his role in While We're Young is yet another piece of a transitional phase in the 48-year-old's life. In a profile for the New York Times, he says of his time with the trio, "“It’s weird when you have an identity for so long, that that's who you are." He speaks to the paper about searching out new roles, his turn with Stiller being a key component.

And if acting doesn't work out, there's always bánh mì. Rolling Stone recently followed Ad-Rock to a New York eatery where the Beastie crafted his very own sandwich, which boasts high-end pastrami, pickled carrots, cucumbers, cilantro and chili Russian dressing.
