On Feb. 18 De'Von Pickett was stabbed and killed. 31-year-old Pierce Boykinhas been arrested and charged with his murder, according to Associated Press. Pickett's friend, Eric Parker, was also stabbed and was severely wounded; both men were in Philadelphia to prepare for Nicki Minaj's The Pinkprint tour. Pickett had previously played integral roles on tours for Minaj and other rappers, such as Pusha T and Fabolous. He was 29.

Per The Daily Mail's report, Boykin was not initially believed to have mortally wounded Pickett and only charged attempted murder. However, after further evidence was discovered and pointed Boykin to both stabbings, Homicide Capt. James Clark said the murder charge was added on. Reports indicate that the melee spilled out from Che Bar & Grill and into the street after Pickett and Parker became embroiled in a fight with another man, allegedly over a female bartender. It has been indicated that both Parker and a member of the party with which the pair clashed had both been romantically involved with her. Parker is expected to survive.

In addition to the aforementioned rappers, Pickett had worked with major singers like Rihanna and K. Michelle. He and Parker had only been in Philadelphia for two days at the time of the incident. They were finalizing plans for the European leg of Minaj's The Pinkprint Tour, which begins in mid-March.
