By now, every new Gucci Mane project is met with shock and awe--not necessarily at the music, but at the volume and staggering release schedule of said music. Even behind bars, Gucci Mane is the most prolific rapper in the public eye, up to and including Web-conjured ghosts like Lil B. But Guwop's newest release, the Drake-nodding Views From Zone 6, is not the same scattershot zip file we've grown accustomed to. Instead, this is a lean, kinetic affair. When Lil B himself appears on the last track, it's as a coda on a single, succinct thought.

As is his custom, Gucci's collaborators are mostly sourced from below the Mason-Dixon line, with protege Young Thug joining Peewee Longway, Yung Gleesh and other Southern stalwarts. When he does venture up the Mississippi, it's to Chicago, where he grabs Chief Keef for a sequel to their collaborative mixtape from last fall. The Quavo-featuring "Make Yo Move" is an EP highlight, reminding the listener just how instrumental Gucci was in Atlanta's role as a stylistic innovator over the last decade in hip-hop.
