Here’s Another Map Of The Most Popular Rappers In The Country

New year, another new confusing map about what state listens to what artist. This time Music Machinery created a map of each state's favorite artist by compiling streaming data from The Echo Nest. If you look at the map above, tons of questions come to mind. First, Eminem is not Michigan's favorite rapper (I know, crazy right?). Instead he's the dominate artist in Virginia, North Dakota and Alaska. It doesn't stop there. Drake is the king of Texas, Oklahoma, New Orleans, Arkansas, New Mexico, Arizona and Nevada. Jay Z runs everything on the East Coast, parts of the midwest and even the majority of the south. Also Macklemore is the head man in Hawaii, Maine, and pretty much the Northwest plus some states in Midwest like Colorado and Nebraska. Macklemore & Ryan Lewis actually take more states than Drizzy. Non-rappers included are Daft Punk who take Oregon, Minnesota and surprisingly California. Lorde and Imagine Dragon each take a one state a piece.

What are your thoughts on the map?

In other news, Drake would be open to enter a battle rap competition.  Even though was Grammy weekend a few days ago, Drake was in his hometown of Toronto to attend a press conference for King Of The Dot Entertainment’s “Blackout 5″ battle rap event.

“I would love to enter the scene,” said Drake. “It’s tough for me because it’s a no-holds-barred competitive interaction and the problem with that is I have to back to my life after that. I’ve always struggled with that as far as battle rap goes. I would love to get into the scene but I have obligations that I might say something and somebody might say something about me and it makes it stuff when I have corporate stuff going on. It’s a tough thing. I think one day I might do it. I don’t know if Mook deserves it…I have a folder in my phone full of bars for somebody one day. We’ll figure it out.” Hopefully he watched Joe Budden's Pay-Per-View rap battle at Total Slaughter.
